The Purpose of this Word Study
      •  This study evaluates every use (104 uses) of  Strong’s Hebrew word H8548 “daily, continual, perpetual” —in the Old Testament.  **

      •  The purpose of this study is to provide evidence that there is NO OTHER USE of H8548 in the Old Testament that can assign the meaning of “paganism” to the word “daily” in the book of Daniel! And, that in fact, 54 of the uses of H8548 are used directly defining the Sanctuary services teaching salvation through Christ as our Saviour/Lamb/Sacrifice and High Priest.  **

      •  And that in the context of the surrounding verses and chapters in Daniel the use of “daily” gives understanding to the wise (Dan 11:33) of the “sanctuary” “truth” being taught by the ram which is under attack by the goat, —who cast the daily sanctuary truth down to the ground and tramples upon it.  **

      •  Thus concluding that the Daily Sanctuary Truth is given to the last generation (by events many do not yet foresee) to prepare them for this testing truth during the Judgment of the Living. (Rev 14:6, 7) —These events start when the transgression is set up, continuing through the time when the abomination is set up which then leads to the desolation of the earth at the ending of the days —when the Heavenly Sanctuary is cleansed on the final Day of Atonement!   Dan 8:14, 19.  **

A Popular Belief in the Church
There is a popular belief among Seventh-day Adventist which has been taught for over 170 years which is NOT SCRIPTURAL!!! During all these years this view has caused great dissension in the Church. Simply stated, it teaches that the word ‘daily’/H8548* in Daniel 8:11, 12, 13; 11:31 and 12:11 means ‘paganism’ and/or the ‘Papacy.’ The ‘daily/paganism’ teaching has been taught for many years (since shortly after 1844), and it has become well entrenched into the Church. However, it is my hope and prayer that this Scriptural Word Study of 104 uses of H8548 will enlighten those who continue to read!  FS-1

The True Meaning of the ‘Daily’
The true meaning of ‘daily’ as used in Daniel teaches the last generation that the judgment of the living starts (at a specific point in last-day events, yet future), and that in fact it is Jesus who mediates daily in the Heavenly Sanctuary for their salvation just before the close of probation, for the Church first, and then for the world. Type and Antitype of these prophecies will soon be understood by many and the Antitype will be fulfilled! The message for the last days will NOT turn people to behold ‘paganism,’ past or future. FS-2 —We are to show the “peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings” (Rev 10:11) with Scripture from Daniel and Revelation that Jesus is our Daily! Jesus will always be our continual throughout eternity!!! FS-3 Daniel was shown that the goat/Satan hates the ‘Daily’ which the ram/saints teaches, —“pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him.” (Dan 8:4) It is the teaching of the true ‘Daily’ which prepares the saint’s for the final cleansing of their sins from the Heavenly Sanctuary (Dan 8:14; Rev 11:18; 14:7) that the goat/Satan and the ‘hostof the goat react with an abundance of hatred! (Dan 8:7; 11:33)

The Antitypical Last-day Fulfillment
—The following commentary explains Daniel 8:11-14, 16, 17, 19, 26. (Please read these verses before continuing.)  —Daniel 11:31 and 12:11 follow along the same antitypical line of fulfillment, but concentrating more on the events and timelines surrounding the wars between the King of the North and King of the South (Dan 11:11) during the 1260 days, 1290 days, and the 1335 days. (Dan 12:7, 11, 12) (See Mirror Chart.)

Dan 8:11   “Yea, he [the goat/Satan] magnified [impersonation of Jesus on earth] himself even to the prince [Jesus] of the host [“the ram;” “the mighty and the holy people;” vrs 7 & 24], and by him [the goat] the daily [the continual ministration of Jesus sacrifice] sacrifice was taken away [subverted], and the place of his sanctuary [Jesus’ continual in the Heavenly Sanctuary; Heb 9:11-12, 24-26] was cast down [made of none effect to the peoples of the earth].”

Dan 8:12   “And an host [followers of the goat] was given him [goat/Satan] against the daily [the continual ministration of Jesus sacrifice] sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it [goat] cast down the truth [of the ‘daily’] to the ground; and it [goat] practised [practice sin/transgression; to execute(ion)], and prospered [against the ram; see vrs 24].”

Dan 8:13   “How long shall be the vision [of the goat trampling the ram] concerning the daily [the continual ministration of Jesus sacrifice] sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation [Sunday Laws; see 11:31 & 12:11; Rev 14:8; The Great Issue–EGW1EGW2], to give both the [Heavenly] sanctuary and the host [last generation of God’s saints] to be trodden under foot?”

Dan 8:14   And the Mighty Numberer [Palmowniy/Jesus; H6422] “said unto me [Daniel], Unto two thousand and three hundred [literal: see vrs 26] days; then shall the [Heavenly] sanctuary be cleansed [of the saints’ sins].”

Dan 8:16   “And I heard a man’s voice [Jesus] between the banks of Ulai [standing on the river of time —2300], which called, and said, Gabriel [standing beside Daniel], make this man [Daniel/last generation] to understand the vision.”

Dan 8:17   “[and] he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.”

Dan 8:19   “Behold, I [Gabriel] will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed [H4150-mow'ed-‘specifically a festival’ —The last great Day of Atonement] the end shall be.”

Dan 8:26   “And the vision of the evening and the morning [H6153 / H1242 = a literal creation day of 24 hours; Gen 1:5–“And the evening and the morning [same Strong’s #H6153/H1242] were the first day.”] which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up [the last-day antitype fulfillment][“seal up”–Dan 9:24] the vision [and the “prophecy”–Dan 9:24]; for it shall be for many days.”

Dan 12:4-10, 13 “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many [of the last generation] shall run to and fro [in the Scriptures], and knowledge shall be increased [concerning the antitypical prophecies]. . . . How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? . . . and when he [the goat] shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people [the ram], all these things shall be finished. . . . O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. . . . But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.”

The Last Great Controversy
The battle between the goat and the ram of Daniel 8 takes place during the fulfillment of the seven thundering events explained by the Mighty Angel, Jesus, in Revelation 10 & 11. Accepting Christ as our Daily in a continual relationship emphasizes the need for each individual to dedicate himself to the Lord upon rising, and again at retiring —daily!
In the Christian’s life, we are to daily seek the services Christ provides in the Heavenly Sanctuary, not only for ourselves but for our families and friends. It is the saint’s continual and perpetual desire to dwell in the house of the Lord. The daily service, whatever the phase, —lamb of sacrifice, water, oil, light, bread, wine, incense/prayer— symbolizes the transfer of sin from the penitent to the sanctuary. The study of the Old Testament sanctuary is vital to our understanding of the events and timing of salvation through Christ. FS-4 Satan’s goat desires to take away this daily relationship with the Heavenly Sanctuary with Jesus as our Daily. In the war against Christ and the Heavenly Sanctuary of salvation, Satan endeavors to take away from the minds of God’s people the Daily, —specifically to take away the daily relationship with Jesus in our soul sanctuary! FS-5 The battle has already started, the goat of Daniel 8 is even now trampling the Ram of sacrifice!

The last message to go to the world will be the message of
Christ and His Righteousness!
Daniel and John show us, the last generation, how and when to give this message!

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God,
and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

John 17:3

Even context use of ‘daily’ in the book of Daniel cannot be stretched to mean paganism compared to the uses listed in the Word Study below! ‘Daily’ in the book of Daniel can ONLY be associated with the truths taught by the sanctuary services of which Christ is our High Priest!       Of all of the texts studied using the word H8548 we must ask the question once again;  Is there EVEN ONE of the texts in the Word Study above that can be used to define the use of H8548 in Daniel with the meaning of “paganism/anti-Christian?” If there is NOT ONE use of H8548 in all of the Old Testament which can be defined as “paganism” —then how can an entire Church be led away from theDaily?” This belief will surely be a huge test to the Church in the near future!!!
The goat/Satan certainly benefits when he takes away the Daily by reason of transgression and exchanges it for paganism —the worship of anti-christ.  FS-6
Despite the evil of the last events of earth’s history, we praise God, for there are many members of God’s Church who understand the last-day messages of Daniel!
