Does God Have
Prophets Today?

Download PDF of this page.

One day as Julie waited in line at the grocery store to be checked out, she scanned the magazines in the racks. She remembered seeing some of the tabloids on her neighbor’s coffee table in her living room from time to time. It seemed they always had such outlandish headlines to tempt people to buy them. As it was only a week before the new year started, the tabloids were now proclaiming what all the “prophets” were predicting for the new year to come.
Julie was puzzled by the statistics that accompanied the pictures of the prophets. The statistics showed ratios of how often each of the prophet’s predictions for last year had come true, as well as how many did not come to pass. How could a prophet be a prophet, if what he said wasn’t true, she wondered. And, where did their “visions” come from? Why was there even such a thing as a prophet?
Have you ever asked yourself these same questions? Well, you may be surprised to learn that the Bible has the answers to these questions. Let’s look and see what the Bible says.
