The Lord’s Day

Several years ago a Christian worker, making his way from home to home, encouraging others to study the Bible, stopped to talk to a man working in his yard. When the Christian invited the man to take a little time to become acquainted with the Bible, he was told, “I’m too busy to take time for Bible study.” To further emphasize how busy he was, the man said, “Why I am so busy that I don’t even have time to read the funny papers!”
Many people are too busy. Today it seems that many people are so busy that they are unable to do all of the things they should. Most people secretly wish they could give God more time. They would like to do this, but the question is —where to find it?
God understands the problems that face us today. He has made provision for us to have time for study, worship, and communion with Him. God knew that life would become more complex and that man would have a tendency to forget his Maker. Therefore God appointed a special time when man could set aside his many problems and renew his relationship with his heavenly Father.
A psychiatrist told a patient of his that What he needed was to learn how to relax completely. For a fee of $25 a week the psychiatrist was teaching him to do this. He was to put every problem and worry out of his mind. The psychiatrist maintained that if every person would put away all perplexities for one day a week and relax completely, there would be little need for mental institutions.
God has set aside such a day in which He wants us to renew our physical and spiritual strength. Let us learn about this day.

Several times in the Bible God states that the act that sets Him apart as the true God is His creative power. It was He who created the world. This earth did not come into existence by chance, cosmic explosion, or evolutionary process. The Bible teaches us that God, in His wisdom, planned this world and by His creative power brought it into existence.
The Sabbath was made as God’s memorial of creation. It was also to be an oasis for man’s soul in which he could find rest and restoration through communion with his Maker. The relationship of creature to Creator is the true basis for all worship. Since this relationship can never be changed, throughout eternity all creation will worship God on His Sabbath day.
Never has man so much needed a time to remember God and His work of creation as today. Never has man so much needed a time to rest and completely put out of his mind the cares of this life. Only by following our Lord’s example and devoting his time as God instructed will man be able to find the blessing that God has promised to those who honor Him as the Creator. Jesus urged us to follow in His footsteps —to follow His example.
If it is your decision to follow Jesus by observing the Bible Sabbath, check in the squares below:

It is my desire to honor my Lord as Creator and Redeemer.

I am willing to follow in the footsteps of my Lord.
