Further Study 8
    The following text not used.
It was hard for Daniel to comprehend the true meaning of these visions! The events of these visions were hard enough to understand; but it was more that this that troubled Daniel. The time prophecy of Daniel 8:14 was written in DAYS, “Unto 2,300 DAYS, then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.” Verse 26 has the proper English translation, “the evening and the morning.” The Strong’s numbers are H6153 and H1242, and the phrase “the evening and the morning,” with the same Strong’s numbers are used EXACTLY in the same way to discribe creation days, which is a 24 hour day. Do you see the prophetic picture here presented to Daniel thus far?
In Daniel 7:25, Daniel is given the time prophecy in literal YEARS. “And they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.” (42 months in Rev 11:2; 13:5.)
In Daniel 8:14, Daniel is given the time prophecy in literal [creation] DAYS. “Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.”
In Daniel 9:24, Daniel is given the time prophecy in WEEKS. “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people. . .” But, the Hebrew meaning shows Daniel that the time is to be understood as “weeks of years,” or to be sevened! Daniel knew well the counting of the weeks of firstfruits, and the seven-sevens (49) plus one (50), leading up to Pentecost. Leveticus 23 is the foundation of understanding the “weeks of years” found in the Sabbathical years (7), the Sabbathical Sabbaths (49), and the Jubilee (50). Daniel must have concluded that this prophecy must be fulfilled in 70 Jublilee's; —thus there would be 490 years for Israel to prepare for the coming “Messiah . . . and he shall confirm the covenant with many.” (Yes, the Sabbath is being taught more fully!)
So! How was Daniel to understand these time prophecies?
It is easy to understand how Daniel became confused. How was he to understand how long these events were going to take? Daniel records the question all of us wish to ask, “How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?” Dan 12:6. (John in the Revelation wrote down the same question, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?” Rev 6:10. The disciples as a group also asked, “Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Matt 24:3.) Was he to understand that these prophecies were to end in literal days as he was taught in the vision of Daniel 8 or were they to be fulfilled in years as taught in the explanation of Daniel 9? It is my belief that Jesus and Gabiel guided Daniel to this level of frushtration so that he would write it down that we may benifit from his experience.
Daniel was very distrot because he was not able to understand these visions. “And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.” “And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.” Daniel further records that Gabiel gave him strength and that he was shown how these prophecies were to be fulfilled from “the scripture of truth.” “But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.” Dan 10:16, 19, 21. Daniel does not record the explanation he received from Gabriel, or did he? Jesus shows Daniel that was to understand both fulfillments of these prophecies, that the prophecies are to be fulfilled in both days and years.
